The Solaris Cancer Care Op Shop hit a very special milestone in August, crossing the $500,000 mark since its establishment just over five years ago.
The Solaris Op Shop is based within the Cancer Wellness Centre campus at 80 Railway Street Cottesloe, and first started in December 2017 as a way to raise funds to support people affected by cancer.
Over the years, support for the Op Shop grew within the Perth community, and the store has grown into a well-loved hub that is popular with people of all ages. The store offers a wide range of unique items – from designer wear to bric-a-brac and linen – all thanks to the generous donations of community members who are dedicated to support the cause.
The team hit the milestone on August 5th at their monthly Saturday openings. 116 shoppers attended the weekend sale, spending $3,892 which brought the total amount of money raised by the Op Shop since its founding to an incredible $501,000.
All funds raised by the Op Shop goes right back into the community, providing free support and care for people impacted by cancer across the state.
Solaris Cancer Care extends a special thank you to all the volunteers who have worked at the Op Shop over the years. It is thanks to their incredible contributions that the shop has grown into what it is today.
We also thank Lorraine Martin for her assistance over the years, and for introducing a new wave of people to the shop and Solaris Cancer Care through her regular Preloved Pro workshops.
And of course, a huge thank you to the community for your support and generosity – we could not have done it without you.
