Volunteer

Volunteer

Solaris Cancer Care relies on the invaluable help of many volunteers, without which we could not provide many of our services. We are incredibly grateful for all their time and energy and consider our volunteers an integral part of our organisation.  Volunteering helps Solaris Cancer Care conserve the funds that we raise so that more of this money can be used to help people diagnosed with cancer and their families.

You can volunteer in a range of areas including complementary therapies, patient services, research, events, and fundraising.

When necessary, we provide volunteers with appropriate training. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer simply fill out the online Volunteer Application Form, call us on (08) 9384 3544 or email info@solariscancercare.org.au.

How you can volunteer

  • As a Therapist
  • In Our Centres
  • At an event
  • As an ambassador

Currently we could use your help in the following areas

Meet & Greet

This important role ensures that everyone who walks into Solaris Cancer Care centres feels welcome and that their enquiries are met with respect. These volunteers provide administrative support at reception and provide a ‘listening’ ear to people who need personal support. All volunteers must have good interpersonal skills, oral communication and listening skills. A warm, friendly and professional attitude is also essential.

Therapists

We are always seeking trained complementary therapists who have membership with relevant professional bodies to support our clients in their modality. Solaris Cancer Care offers evidence based complementary therapies that fall under three categories – Touch/Body Based Therapies, Mind-Body Techniques or Energy Based Therapies. Minimum qualifications are required as per Solaris Cancer Care’s guidelines.

Fundraising

Solaris Cancer Care is a not for profit organisation and does not currently receive ongoing government funding.
We need people who would be willing to create and run community events autonomously under our branding, but with our support. We always need people to source a range of diverse items to auction at our events and raffle.
Other fundraising opportunities include:

  • Donation tins
  • Regular contracted fundraisers in managed shopping centres and outlets

Events

We have a wide range of events throughout the year and these important and fun opportunities allow volunteers to make a significant contribution and to be a part of something that makes a real difference.
