Current research projects
Our latest research project to improve Solaris’s knowledge about supporting and assisting future cancer patients, was looking at the levels of empowerment and distress. From March to November 2019, over 100 participants from Perth and country WA filled in an online survey. With a wide age range, respondents were from all walks of life, with a variety of cancers, timeline and treatment. The questionnaires provided us with valuable information that will increase our understanding of the concepts of empowerment and distress and will be used to improve the supportive cancer care of future patients. So thank you once again for your important contribution.

The 22th International Psycho-Oncology Society World Congress of Psycho-Oncology (IPOS 2020) Abstract Acceptance
The Carer Education workshop has been running for fourteen years under the management of Trish Williams.
During that time, participants have given some valuable feedback on the course. A recent evaluation of the attendees comments about the course was conducted with over 400 past participants by researchers Caroline Bulsara, David Joske, and Anne Williams.
This evaluation has now been submitted and accepted for a conference to be held in Kyoto in Japan – date to be confirmed. The International Psycho-Oncology (IPOS) conference is held annually and attracts many researchers, clinicians, and consumers from around the globe. We hope to proudly fly the flag for Solaris Cancer Care and Trish’s wonderful work in this area this year in Japan!
