Daglish Local Teams Up with Luna Palace Cinemas for Cancer Care

Celesta Wijaya of Oneness Being Inc. has partnered with Luna Palace Cinemas to highlight the importance of integrative cancer care to the Leederville community at a movie night on Thursday, March 18.

“After a challenging 14 months of COVID-19, I decided there was no better time to support Perth’s iconic art house cinema Luna Palace with the community for a great cause,” Ms. Wijaya said.

“Solaris Cancer Care provides an oasis to thousands of West Australian families with cancer. They have provided a phenomenal level of support to patients, carers and families during COVID.”

The movie night will feature a special screening of acclaimed feature documentary, Return to Gandhi Road. The film details the extraordinary life of Tibetan master, Kangyur Ripoche, who sets off over the Himalayan mountains to heed the danger of the 1950’s Cultural Revolution.

Bringing the film to Perth was a labour of love, sparking months of exchange between Luna Cinemas and Ms. Wijaya over how they could acquire film distribution rights.

“No cinemas had acquired the official distribution rights in Perth. I approached Luna Palace Cinemas and asked them to consider it but never expected them to move forwards,” Ms. Wijaya said.

Luna Palace Cinemas said they were grateful to Ms. Wijaya for bringing the film to their attention and are thrilled to raise the profile of Solaris Cancer Care during the movie night.

Solaris Cancer Care CEO Francis Lynch thanked Ms. Wijaya and Luna Palace Cinemas for choosing to support Solaris as their charity of choice.

“We are grateful to Ms. Celesta Wijaya and Luna Palace Cinemas for recognising how our organisation provides outreach and wellbeing services to over 10,000 West Australians mostly at no cost to them.”

“This initiative will enable us to continue our services and reach more cancer patients, carers and families, and cancer survivors,” Mr Lynch said.

In 2020, Solaris provided 16, 412 free cancer intervention services. Ms. Wijaya has taught multiple yoga classes at Solaris Cottesloe for the past 5 years.

Solaris Cancer Care is one of Australia’s leading integrative oncology organisations and provides support to individuals with all types of cancer from diagnosis to survivorship and palliative care.
