The Red Sky Riders are leading the ride to support cancer patients

Solaris Cancer Care is a community based, not for profit, cancer support organisation, our centres offer evidence-based information, education, support, counselling and complementary therapies to cancer patients and their carers. Our services are provided free of charge or with minimal cost, this year we will provide over 20,000 services throughout our five centres in WA.

As Solaris is not the recipient of ongoing government funding, we rely on the generosity of corporates, individuals and the community to maintain our service delivery.  One of our major fundraising events is the Solaris Cancer Care Red Sky Ride, an annual cycling event.  The 2018 Red Sky Ride team are about to start their epic 540 km, 4-day ride across the South West. These amazing individuals will not only be pushing themselves to their personal limit but are making a major difference to West Australians living with cancer.  The riders, supported by a fantastic team of volunteers, are aiming to raise $300 000.00.

The 2018 Red Sky Ride Ambassador Clare Lubich is a vibrant, single mother of two. When diagnosed with cancer, she felt alone, and reached out for a helping hand.

“Solaris Cancer Care became my sanctuary, a welcome island in a very turbulent and grey sea. The centre gave me the strength I needed.  From the moment I walked in I knew I was in the right place.  I am so thankful and grateful for the support that was so generously given to me on my road to a healthy and happy life.”

The riders are cycling to support people like Clare and we wish them the best of luck.  Please join us for their welcome home event on Sunday, 11 March 2018 at 80 Railway Street, Cottesloe, this will be an afternoon to remember.
