Solaris Cancer Care announces two new board members

WA’s leading cancer support provider – Solaris Cancer Care – has today announced the appointment of two new board members, Clare McNeill and Diane Porteous.

“We are pleased to welcome Clare and Diane to the Solaris Cancer Care board,” said Solaris Cancer Care CEO, David Edwards.

“They bring a wealth of experience to the team from their time in the marketing and legal world, two areas which are vital for a non-profit such as ours.”

Clare has over 14 years of legal, risk management and commercial experience across a range of industries, having worked at Macquarie and law firm, Allens. She recently relocated back to Perth after extended time working away in London and Sydney, during which time she served as a Board member of the London-based health and social care charity, Manor Gardens Welfare Trust.

“I am extremely honoured to join Solaris Cancer Care’s Board.  Solaris plays such an important role in furthering the wellbeing and support of Western Australians affected by cancer.  I am passionate about making a positive difference in peoples’ lives and welcome the opportunity to contribute to the Solaris community,” said Clare, who currently acts as Senior Commercial Manager for BGC.

Diane is an experienced executive manager with 20 years’ experience in senior management and marketing positions in Australia and Europe, having worked for MICROSOFT, British Telecom, Telefonica O2, HTC Europe, and local organisations Tourism WA and MICROMINE.

Diane’s qualification in life coaching and human behaviour studies have been driven by her passion for empowering individuals and teams for high performance. She was the director of Mpowerment Consulting that delivered workshops and coaching to a wide variety of local organisations.

“I am passionate about joining an organisation which is providing such unique support to improve the quality of people’s lives during their time of need. When I heard Solaris Cancer Care offered such a positive, empowering and supportive approach based on the patient’s needs, I was touched. I’m looking forward to working with such an inspirational community of people,” said Diane who is currently Head of Global Marketing for ASX company IMDEX Limited.

The pair join an existing board of directors, which includes Professor David Joske, Patrick Ryan, Graham Laitt, Patricia Williams, Kirsty Danby and John Hassell.

McNeill and Porteous have joined Solaris Cancer Care during a busy period as it raises funds in its annual May we Thrive campaign.
