If you, or someone you know, is currently undergoing cancer treatment, you may be wondering if it is safe to exercise, or why you should even do any.

If you, or someone you know, is currently undergoing cancer treatment, you may be wondering if it is safe to exercise, or why you should even do any.

An exercise program can be one of the best things you can do for your body during this time.

Research shows that exercise is effective for people living with cancer and may even reduce chances of cancer recurrence. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy can cause side effects on your body and you may experience muscle fatigue and mental exhaustion when doing things that you may have enjoyed previously.

Exercise while undergoing cancer treatment can:

· Manage and reduce cancer-related fatigue and overall side effects of cancer treatment;

· Maintain lean muscle mass, bone mineral density and aerobic conditioning;

· Maintain mobility post-surgery;

·  Improve mood, sense of being connected and social interaction- great for mental health!

Come and learn about all the benefits of exercise, how to monitor and manage fatigue during exercise, the types of exercises you can do and how to safely do them - you’ll also be in for a treat and get your body moving!

Come and listen to Exercise Physiologist Fiona Nguyen
