Travelling back in time at the 2020 Solaris Cancer Care gala ball

Travelling back in time at the 2020 Solaris Cancer Care gala ball

Established as one of the most elaborate and spectacular charity events, the recent Solaris Cancer Care Gala Ball, generously sponsored by Global Civil and Mining, delivered an evening of splendour coupled with support for a very worthy cause.

Filled to capacity, the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Perth was transformed by the creative team from PAV Complete Event Solutions into a stunning retro-futuristic time capsule, transporting guests to the mystery and romance of the Victorian Steampunk Era. The ceiling was elegantly draped with silk swathes, drawn together by a magnificent central chandelier while an enormous backdrop of cogs and gears erupting with bursts of steam, featured on the stage.

A large moving cog was the feature of the Steel Street shop fronts, whilst a plane hung from the ceiling, poised to swoop. Decorated with tall centrepieces, the tables were confections of black tulle, red roses, gold branches and a myriad of tiny lights.  It was the perfect setting for an amazing night.

Hosted by our Mistress of Ceremonies, Claudia Bertorello-Kell, guests were treated to addresses by Professor David Joske, Founder of Solaris Cancer Care and Mr. Mark Lane, Solaris Cancer Care Ambassador 2019-2020.  Their heartfelt messages resonated with the guests, reminding them of the purpose of the night and the very real need to provide safe, supportive care to those West Australians impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

Chef Abhay and his team created a delicious customised three-course dinner using the best produce from Mt Barker Chicken and Milne Pastoral Beef Co. and this was accompanied by a selection of wines, beers, and ciders from Ferngrove Wines and Gage Roads Brewing Company.

An impressive array of live and silent auction items, amazing live performances, a photo booth, and dancing, kept the guests well entertained throughout the night.

It was, quite simply, an event not to be missed!

A few words from some of our guests:

“Congratulations on a spectacular event at the Hyatt for the Solaris Cancer Care Gala Ball 2020! It was certainly a highlight of the year for the majority I would think! Even those like myself who attends events regularly, this was a real treat! “

“Please accept my thanks for your incredible Gala Ball.  Your vision was spectacular, and the execution spot on. It is easy for me to say that it was the best gala ball I have ever been to… and as you know I attend (too many) of these events!”

“Thank you for the opportunity to give back to my community in a very meaningful way to me – I felt a great sense of closure for the loss of my dear friend who was helped by Solaris.”

“This is one of the best, if not the best, gala ball I have ever been to!”

“A night not to be missed – can’t wait for next year!”
